Who provides paediatric osteopathy at the clinic?
Our osteopath Iveta Hanzelova (Iva) completed postgraduate study in Specialist Paediatric Osteopathic Practice in 2025, alongside her Master's in Osteopathy from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine. She sees babies, children and teenagers, and also offers perinatal and postnatal support for parents. You can read more about her on our team page.
What to expect at a child's appointment
The first appointment is around 60 minutes and begins with a conversation with you about your child's health, birth and development, and the reason for the visit. The examination is gentle and unhurried: watching how your child moves, and light hands-on assessment of the areas of concern. Treatment uses very light touch and your child stays with you throughout. Follow-up sessions are around 40 minutes. Bring a favourite toy or comforter, and feed or change a baby before you come if you can, so they are settled.
When to see your GP or health visitor instead
Osteopathy is not a substitute for medical care. If your child is unwell, has a fever, is not feeding, has a rash, or anything else that worries you, see your GP, your health visitor or call NHS 111 first. We are happy to see children alongside their NHS care, and we will always tell you if we think something needs a doctor's assessment.
Prices
The first visit for a baby or child, including the consultation, is £80 for about 60 minutes. Continuing treatment is £65 for about 40 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
- Is osteopathy safe for babies?
- Osteopaths are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council, and the techniques used with babies and children are very gentle, with no forceful manipulation. As with any treatment, the osteopath will explain what they propose to do and why before starting, and you can stop at any point.
- What age can a child see an osteopath?
- Any age, from newborn to teenager. The approach is adapted to the child's age and size.
- Do I need a referral?
- No. You can book directly. If your child is under the care of a paediatrician or other specialist, let us know so we can take that into account.

Dry Needling
At the AOC Clinic we have an Osteopath who is also trained to provide Dry Needling. It is a treatment technique using fine needles inserted into painful knots in muscles to help decrease pain, improve mobility and function.
